Title:
River Oich to Lock Ness
This painting was inspired by a memorable journey through the Scottish Highlands—a trip my husband and I took with my mother-in-law to celebrate her 80th birthday. She had often said that she dreamed of seeing Scotland with her own eyes one day, and we were grateful to share that experience together.
One unforgettable highlight was attending the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle. We also visited the legendary Loch Ness. Although we never spotted Nessie, I was captivated by the breathtaking beauty of the loch and the surrounding landscape.
Everything felt wonderfully unfamiliar—the soft colours of the Scottish sky, so different from those of Australia’s Gold Coast, the gentle flow of the River Oich, the distant bridge, and the old stone buildings rich with history. Standing there, I found myself quietly taking it all in, without a single thought, simply absorbing the peaceful atmosphere around me.
Even now, I can vividly remember the stillness of the air, the slow-moving river, the clouds drifting across the sky, and the timeless beauty of that place.
Through this painting, I hope to share not only the scenery I witnessed, but also the quiet sense of wonder and gratitude that remains with me to this day.
